  8. Costello is back in circulation with his latest album, Spike.
  9. But there is one place he won't be playing soon: Buckingham
  10. Palace. "I wouldn't do anything with the royal family," he told
  11. Rolling Stone magazine. "They're scum . . ." a "family of
  12. buffoons." Even for the outspoken Costello, who doesn't think
  13. much of the rock concerts sponsored by the royals, the remarks
  14. were blistering. "What makes them so damn important? I just
  15. don't understand why we subsidize people who seem to just go on
  16. holiday all the time." Now, now, Elvis.
